AGARTALA, March 19 (TIWN): Although initially it was speculated that former Deputy CM Jishnu Debbarman might be the candidate for Dhanpur seat, but few newspapers have now published another speculative name for Dhanpur seat who is Rajib Bhatatcharjee.
Rajib Bhattacharjee, the BJP State President was defeated in Banamalipur constituency against Congress candidate Gopal Roy whereas former Deputy CM Jishnu Debbarman lost his seat in Charilam with a narrow margin with Tipra Motha candidate Subodh Debbarma.
The Dhanpur seat has now left vacated since BJP winner candidate MP Pratima Bhowmik had resigned from the MLA post to continue as MP and Central Minister. A by-poll is needed to fill up the seat.
BJP has targeted the seat of Dhanpur for victory as the party is now having only 31 seats in Assembly out of 60 seats.
