AGARTALA, March 17 (TIWN): Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Manikya on Friday after the oath-taking program of Tipra Motha MLAs was completed said Tipra Motha will work as a strong opposition inside the Assembly and will raise tough questions to the Govt both inside and outside the Assembly and if Govt’s decisions are correct then, Tipra Motha will support those decisions. On being asked about why an “interlocutor” could not be appointed yet for constitutional solution as was said earlier and why the regional party is taking a different stand than its previous stand where he said that the party was ready to sign a draft with the Govt of India before 2023 Assembly poll.
In reply, Pradyot Manikya said, “I said, draft was ready but signature could not be done due to model code of conduct but I never said that Tipra Motha was fully agreed to sign there. Interlocutor’s appointment proposal was not our view, but it was the plan of the Govt only…….However, Tiprasa can not wait for the whole life and years after years for that”.
He stressed the fact that when few critics are saying that due to Tipra Motha BJP has retained power again, no political party has officially said so. It is the right of all parties to fight either from Simna or Mohanpur.
He added, ‘If Tipra Motha had not fought in Assembly poll, BJP could get 50 seats’.
