AGARTALA, March 17 (TIWN): Reacting to media questions about whether the vote-division among opposition parties, helped BJP to retain power or not, Tipra Motha supremo Pradyot Manikya claimed if Tipra Motha was not in the battle BJP could win 50 seats. He stated, “Whether anyone agrees or not but survey shows in Tripura and West Bengal majority of Hindu Bengalis voted for BJP, Muslims for Mamata and here CPM and STs voted for our party. Even media survey shows that. Why could Jitendra Chowdhury win the Election as there was no Tipra Motha candidate there. I would say, if Tipra Motha did not fill the candidate there, then BJP would have won with 50 seats”.

Today, Tipra Motha MLAs and Congress MLA Sudip Barman took oath in Assembly. Yesterday BJP and CPI-M MLAs took oath. Dhanpur MLA seat stays vacant now as winner BJP candidate Pratima Bhowmik resigned for continuation of her Central Minister and Tripura MP.

BJP has now 31 MLAs, IPFT 1 and Congress has 3 MLAs and CPI-M 11. Tipra Motha is the second opposition party with 13 Assembly seats.
