AGARTALA, March 6 (TIWN): Opposition CPI-M and Congress party leaders on Monday have met DGP Amitabha Ranjan today seeking restoration of peace and strict action against the hooligans who are violating the laws and creating disturbance in the state. Addressing media, Congress leader Asish Saha said, “Statewide terror is going on since the poll results. Opposition workers are facing terrible attacks by BJP workers, houses are vandalized, set on fire. There is an atmosphere of fear across the state. But the miscreants are roaming free after organizing such crimes. We have submitted a list of the incidents. Total 669 incidents have been reported to the DGP”. “Police are going to the spot and taking notes but no action has been taken against the miscreants. If no fear works in the goons’ mind, then how can the crimes be eliminated ? DGP has assured us that appropriate actions will also be taken against the miscreants", said Asish Saha.
“We have appealed for more security and appealed him to organize raids at the points where miscreants gather. We will wait to see the outcome of the promise of the police and if the situation is not developed, then we will decide our next move”, said Saha.
