CHURAIBARI, March 4 (TIWN): Public on Saturday agitated in Churaibari against the ongoing violence. To take a control over situation DIG himself rushed to the spot.

After the announcement of the poll results of the Tripura Assembly elections, political violence reported in Churaibari. Seeking a relief from the violence, public gathered at Churaibari market and protested.

SP Kiran Kumar and Northern DIG Manchak Yappa along with a large police and CRPF force rushed to Churaibari market. Police told the locals that there are incidents but these are also fueled by rumours and so not to respond to such rumours for the sake of law and order.

Police today visited various areas and campaigned for peace. 

Police told the public that strict action will be taken against them who have been attacking the people. Police also assured restoration of peace. After getting assurance, the locals returned to their houses.
