AGARTALA, Jan 25 (TIWN): Not only renowned national media journalists like Abhishar Sarma, Ravish Kumar became YouTubers but in Tripura many TV Channel Editors now feeding their viewers with YouTube channels as huge numbers of channels were shutdown under BJP’s five years rule.
Many newspapers have also disappeared from the state with BJP Govt has announced a war against media.
Some of such victim channels’ owners today met the District magistrate seeking that their channels’ broadcasting should be restored.
Channel MrinaliniENN, DinRaat and a few other media owners had joined the deputation.
Various TV channels, and newspapers were shutdown by Biplab Deb-led BJP Govt immediately after the channels had criticized BJP Govt. Some newspaper Editors still continues battle at the Court.
On the other hand, few TV channels were elevated from C category to A category just because those channels maintained campaigning for the BJP Govt. Such scenarios are not isolated incidents for Tripura, but across the nation, sections of media have been suppressed by blocking their broadcasting or changing ownership or by forcing the channels to campaign for Modi Govt. Recently BBC’s news link was blocked in India when India row is much below at the Press Freedom Index.
Our website Tripurainfoway.com was also blocked by Govt of India which was later reopened under the High Court's order but still in Broadband connections it shows blocked inside Tripura.
