AGARTALA, Jan 25 (TIWN): It took years for Biplab Deb to realize the power of media and opposition voice until he and his party came to power in 2018. When before 2018 poll, BJP party was blocking CM quarter to Secretariat, protesting statewide, publishing anything in media and welcoming strong criticism, now is holding the exact opposite view in 2023. He now thinks, Govt should be respected as a 'Father' and should not criticize for lacking.
While addressing a party program, Tripura’s former Chief Minister Biplab Deb said on Wednesday, that opposition's speeches are like anti-Indian as they want to make the public angry against the Govt. Communists always say, people do not have this and that but it’s not Indian Culture that would criticize its own Govt.
“In Indian Culture, a mother will never teach her children to blame their father for any lapses. If a father can not feed his children, rather the mother will tell her children to be sympathized”, said Biplab deb.
Biplab Deb’s statement against Freedom of Speech however not new for the state as under his regime Media houses, Opposition houses were burnt in broad daylight by his party workers, many journalists, activists were arrested and 47 journalists were physically attacked on record. Even Biplab Deb once during his CM-tenure claimed that in a State CM is most powerful, not High Court judges.
