AGARTALA, Jan 23 (TIWN): It was recently a setback for the anti-BJP aligned Opposition parties ahead of 2023 Assembly poll as regional, ADC ruling party Tipra Motha held a meeting with Central BJP leaders and Pradyot Manikya told a TV channel that he is ready to align with BJP if gets assurance about ‘Greater Tipraland’ in writing. That TV channel is literally known as BJP’s paid channel which has further complicated the situation for Pradyot Manikya. When voters in Tripura are divided into BJP and Non-BJP voters, indigenous voters were assured by regional, ruling ADC Tipra Motha party about ‘Greater Tipraland’ which will be either a separate state from Tripura or at least come up with a constitutional solution under autonomous territory.
In such a condition, anti-BJP voters are resented, alleging Tipra Motha is trying to divide opposition vote banks and might go for an alliance with the BJP after the poll results.
However, what conversation of BJP High Command had taken place with Tipra Motha has not been clarified by Tipra Motha party leaders.
Amid all the rumours, Tipra Motha has clarified in a statement that the party will fight alone and no alliance will be made until the promise in writing comes.
On the other hand, BJP and Opposition front are focussing on Candidates’ list as the last date for candidates’ list announcement is knocking on the door.
Tipra Motha Supremo’s verbal statement clearly indicated that he is under pressure from Tipra Motha leaders about alignment with national parties although he did not mention about which party is being preferred by his party leaders. BJP MP Rebati Tripura claimed that by demanding Greater Tipraland in writing-form Tipra Motha is now in trouble.
