AGARTALA, Jan 21 (TIWN): Tripura Opposition parties under its grand-alliance met with CEO followed by a massive rally in Agartala demanding a “Free & Fair Poll” on February 16.
After meeting the CEO on Saturday, CPI-M State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury on being asked by media whether he is happy with the suspension of the police officials who failed to play a neutral role during Congress’s rally in Jirania, Jitendra Chowdhury said, “Question does not arise for being happy at this point. Action must be taken against the culprits who initiated the violence including the Ministers who are provoking violence statewide”.
He also said, if Election Commission fails to take action on spot, then the opposition must have to think on their own about what deal with these ongoing attacks, violence.
Opposition parties and secular, democratic forces have united in Tripura to fight BJP in the 2023 Poll. A mass-deputation was placed to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) led by secular and democratic forces.
Yesterday, Election Commission of India suspended Jirania SDPO Himadri Das and removed two police local stations’ OCs over Jirania violence which happened allegedly by Minister Sushanta Chowdhury’s local party workers during Congress’s rally on 18th January.
