AGARTALA, January 17 (TIWN): Just ahead of the TTAADC election Tripura congress ST cell organized a crucial meeting to discuss the issues related to TTAADC election at Congress Bhavan, here today.

Speaking in the meeting Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Birajit Sinha said that the party has decided to launch massive programme at community level for strengthening the party base in hilly areas. The Congress in Tripura has always supported empowerment of TTAADCs to give the people of the indigenous communities their due autonomy and share in socio-political and economic life. We have to strengthen the party by bringing more number of people to the party fold. The party must be fortified from booth level, he added.

“We certainly do not support such fissiparous demands for a separate state or inner-line permits but our view is that the TTAADC must be empowered in the interest of the tribal communities," Sinha said.

He added that the contradiction can be resolved only if the 5th and 6th Schedules of the Constitution are amended to pave the way for direct funding of the TTAADC for implementation of centrally sponsored schemes and enactment of a provision for earmarked funds for TTAADCs.

We have no doubt in snatching power from the CPI(M) in the next Assembly elections in this state," he said. The uninterrupted 22 ¬year stint in power seems to have taken a toll on the financial transparency of the Left Front administration in Tripura. Corruption in implementation of rural development schemes continues unabated. There is a state government of Tripura eats up all the money which comes from the central government for development, he alleged.

The state government deep necked in corruption and CPIM is not the Government for the people. The Left Front do not care about peoples and there problems, they do not settle issues. He also criticizes the Left Front Government’s alternative policies and said that those are against common people.

Working President Pradyot Kishore Debbarman, Congress ST Cell leader Debabrata Koloi and other members of Congress ST Cell were present in the meeting
