Powered sound system pollutes capital city: Administration takes no steps

AGARTALA, January 17 (TIWN): Paying no attention to the sound pollution at large at the capital city Agartala that has become a matter of concern recently, the concerned entitled administration seems to have failed to detect any clubs, organization and the bazzar committees, busy playing high powered music system during the night hours.

Showing thumb to the Tripura State pollution Control Board and the police several clubs and organization and a section of bazzar committee here at the capital city Agartala are witnessed to be organizing several cultural programmes like orchestra, kirtan and marriage parties and that too found playing high powered music system causing a serious disturbances among the general public at the city. Whereas on the other showing a thumb to the act and rules and also the order of the High Court, the concerned administration are found to be playing a role of a silent spectator.

According to the highly placed source of the state pollution control board, the activities like playing high powered music system during the restricted hours has stand tall recently with the administration failed to detect any such cases.

Like playing crackers during the marriage part at night, playing sound system at several kirtans organized by a section of bazzar committees has taken a stand tall in the capital city, added the source. “Therefore the police entitled with responsibility should take care of such disturbances”, said Source.

However it is mentionable here that the High Court of Tripura in a Writ Petition (C) (PIL) 03 of 2013 has issued certain directions on the January 20, 2014. On the verdict of the HC, the concerned administration of Police was entitled with their duty to seize the music systems if anyone is found playing it after 10:00 PM.

The HC said that no loud speaker or any sound producing instrument or a musical instrument or a sound amplifier shall be used at night time during 10:00PM to 6:00 AM except within an auditorium, conference rooms, community hall, or during public emergency.

However but the noise pollution here at the capital city has become a matter of concern with several clubs and organization playing high powered music system during the restricted period of time. It was also noticed that during the candidates board examination period even the disturbance situation prevails and the concerned administration seems to have taken no major steps to curb it.
