Assam Rifles holds lecture cum weapon display programme

Agartala, January 15 (TIWN): Living up to its true spirit of ‘Friends of the Hill People’ the 4th Battalion of Assam Rifles (Manipur) under the aegis of HQ 21 Sector Assam Rifles on the occasion of Army Day organised a lecture cum Weapon display programme at Assam Rifles Ground.

A total of 137 school students and NCC cadets attended the lecture cum weapon display programme. The event assumes importance as this event acts as an inspiration for all youth to come forward and join the defence forces.

Assam Rifles also conducted a Blood Donation Camp at Agartala, Brig A S Berar, VSM, Cdr 21 Sector Assam Rifles inaugurated the Blood Donation Camp. A total of 64 Soldiers donated their blood to the State Blood Bank. The blood donation camp undoubtedly brought the security forces more close to the heart and mind of the hill peoples.

The public, especially local youths, students and civil administration showed great enthusiasm and conveyed their happiness towards the affinity which 4th (Manipur) Bn of Assam Rifles shares with the local population with tireless efforts put on by the unit.

Similarly, a blood donation camp was organized by 15 Assam Rifles (AR) at Unit Hospital, Udaipur under the aegis of HQ 21 Sect AR on the occasion of Army day on January 15.

The camp was organized under the supervision of Dr. Satish Kumar, Chief Medical Officer of 15 Assam Rifles, Medical Officers and technical staffs from Civil Hospital along with other members of the organization. 

Around 40 service personnel donated blood during the camp on the occasion.  A lecture was also conducted on the importance of voluntary blood donation and accentuated that the camp was organized with an aim to create awareness among people as a part of healthcare initiative of battalion for the people.

The Camp had been a great success and was evident by the donors’ enthusiasm and keen interest.  This event emphasized the importance of reaching out the populace and working towards ‘WHAM’ (Winning Hearts and Mind) and portrayed the motto of Assam Rifles- “Friends of North-East People”.
