Agartala, January 14 (TIWN): The next hearing of the 10,323 teacher termination case will be placed before Supreme Court on January 15th. In the meantime, Law Secretary Data Mohan Jamatia and the Deputy Director of Education had reached Delhi to appear before the Apex Court. But uncertainty still prevails over the judgment as few persons of both the defence and Government had not got notice till today. Sources informed that, State Government will seek more time before the apex Court.

Earlier, Supreme Court postponed 10, 323 teachers termination case with the next hearing likely to be on January 15. Hearing was earlier scheduled to be held on January 9, 2015.Supreme Court has been hearing the case following the interlocutory application filed by the Tripura Govt. challenging the High Court’s verdict.

During the month of December 2014 the SC stayed the HC order to terminate the jobs of at least 10, 323 teachers and allowed them to continue their service until the final disposal of the case. Supreme Court was supposed to hear the interlocutory application on January 9, filed by the Tripura Govt. to save the terminated jobs of at least 10, 323 Graduate, Under Graduate and Postgraduate teachers .Registrar of Supreme Court conducted a preliminary hearing in October this year and admitted the case for further hearing. And accordingly the court conducted the second hearing on December 8, allowed them to continue beyond Dec 31 and until the final disposal of the case.

However, Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty said that the state govt. is very hopeful in regard of the interlocutory application that will lead to positive outcomes. He also said that when the state govt. is trying hard enough to save all the terminated teachers, on the other there is no way of forlorn for those teachers. It is to be mentioned here that the Supreme Court in the year 2009, issued a notification that in case of appointment of teachers new education policy should be implemented.

As per the notification, Central Government had instructed the State Governments to take this policy in action. But the State Government of Tripura turned a deaf ear to this and still no education policy was implemented.
