AGARTALA, Oct 27 (TIWN): Have rapes, gangrapes turned jokes for Tripura BJP that lies, and irresponsible statements are being delivered by ruling BJP leaders to save a rape accused Chandrashekhar Das’s reputation who is the son of BJP Minister Bhagaban Das and his arrest may spoil BJP party’s reputation nationally ? A lie was detected after two different statements from two BJP leaders about Bhagaban Das’s son Chandrashekhar Das’s location on 19th October came out. The different statement erupted question, who is exactly telling the lie ? Minister Sushanta Chowdhury claimed that Chandrashekhar Das was in "Guwahati" whereas local leader of Kumarghat claimed "Agartala" on that night.
It took 7 days for police to release the FIR copy which had excluded Minister Bhagaban Das’s son Chandrashekhar Das’s son’s name. After 7 days of police press note, BJP held a press meet on Wednesday where Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that BJP and Congress are playing dirty politics over the rape cases and they are trying to malign the image of Minister Bhagaban Das and his son. Sushanta Chowdhury also told media that on the gang-rape incident day, Bhagaban Das’s son was not in Kumarghat but was in Guwahati.
In the meanwhile a video has become viral dated 22nd October where a Kumarghat BJP leader is stating that Chandrashekhar Das on incident day was in Agartala with his brother. Centering the double statement, resentment has erupted among common men as BJP’s lies to save the Minister’s son have been exposed.
The gangrape incident of Kumarghat took place on 19th October where all the accused persons were active BJP members including a woman who brought the 16 years old minor girl into a rented room by telling lies to her. She was brutally gangraped whole night and Minister Bhagaban Das’s son Chandrashekhar Das’s son’s name came out but since then BJP’s desperate attempts to save him have triggered massive resentment.
After the double statement by both BJP leaders, public doubts have increased further about Chandrashekhar’s role in the gangrape incident.
After Kumarghat incident, another gangrape incident took place in Kalyanpur and in that incident also, the victim was minor who was kidnapped and gangraped on 25th October. In kailashahar another rape incident was reported. Statewide protests are on against the rape incidents.
Reacting to the deteriorating law and order situation, former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said police can not be blamed for everything when they are under severe pressure. Sarkar added, “Under Left Govt crime against women happened that is true but in such cases, the previous Left Govt never tried to influence police”.
However, Chief Minister Manik Saha has claimed that crime rates have decreased in Tripura than before and police will always show zero-tolerance against such heinous crimes.
Various non political organizations have also joined the protest seeking justice for the victim and severe punishment for all the culprits who are involved in the rape incident.
