AGARTALA, Oct 27 (TIWN): This is not the first time that Tripura BJP Govt and its Party have attempted to manipulate a ‘Rape Case’ but from Mohanpur to Circuit house rape incidents where BJP activists were involved, the party leaders took full measures to save the politically backed culprits in last 4.5 years of BJP’s rule in Tripura. As expected Minister Bhagaban Das’s rape accused son Chandrashekhar Das’s name has been excluded from the police report amid severe allegations against him for his direct involvement in the gang rape incident with other BJP activists. The 16 years old victim was trapped and asked to enter into a hotel room by a BJP woman worker on 19th October and then gangraped.

The victim is still fighting for her life after the deadly incident happened to her. Police took 1-week to release the statement where Minister Bhagaban Das’s son’s name was not included. All the rape accused persons involved in Kumarghat gangrape incident are active BJP workers.

After Police statement on the Kumarghat gangrape incident, BJP Minister Sushanta Chowdhury called a press conference on Wednesday and slammed CPI-M and Congress party leaders for propagating against Minister Bhagaban Das’s son Chandrashekhar Das connecting him with the gangrape incident of Kumarghat. Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said, it was a malicious attempt of the opposition to defame the Minister and his family.

But question remains, why did police take 7 days time to release the press note before masses ? Why was BJP silent when the protests escalated centering the gangrape incident ?

Congress and CPI-M stirred protests against the incident seeking arrests of all the culprits.

In another separate gangrape incident on 24th October on Kali Puja night at Kamalpur another minor girl is critical after she was kidnapped and gangraped. All the accused persons in that incident are also BJP workers.

She was found injured on the next day morning. Police have lodged a case and started an investigation. People launched massive protest, gheraoed police station at Kamalpur against the incident seeking justice. All the accused persons involved in the incident are active BJP workers.

Reacting to the incidents, CPI-M State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury said, not only CPI-M and Congress but even many members of the BJP party are demanding a fair investigation and arrests of all culprits.

SP of Unokoti Dist Kanta Jangir however told media, “No culprit will be spared in both cases if found guilty regardless of any identity”.

A woman was also arrested in the gangrape incident of Kumarghat who had called the minor victim girl on 19th October and left her in a hotel room where she was gangraped whole night.

Reacting to the incidents, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said, “No doubt, these incidents are very unfortunate but police are taking impartial action. I have asked police DGP to look into the matters seriously. We have zero tolerance against such incidents”.

Chief Minister Manik Saha also told media that he will place data before media soon with a graph to prove that crimes have decreased in Tripura than before.
