AGARTALA, Oct 26 (TIWN): CPI-M State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury on Wednesday slammed BJP Govt over increasing rape and murder cases in state where BJP party workers, family members are found involved. Addressing media Jitendra Chowdhury said when the entire state was protesting against the gang-rape case of Kumarghat where Minister Bhagaban Das’s son Chandrashekhar Das’s name was involved for being a part of 16 years old girl's gang-rape, another gang-rape case was lodged in Kalyanpur where a minor girl was kidnapped and raped. In both cases victims were minor girls. However, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury organized a press meet claiming that Bhagaban Das’s son’s name is nowhere in the FIR and CPI-M, Congress playing dirty politics whereas question raised, why police took 7 days to release the statement and why the victim statement was not recorded earlier before media?
Jitendra Chowdhury said, “Not only other organizations but inside BJP also, there are demands of a fair investigation. Bhagaban Das’s son was hiding in his father Govt quarter after raping the minor in Kumarghat rented room. Bhagaban Das should behave like a Minister and administrator. By his attempt to save his son, the Minister has been playing a very narrow role, which is unexpected”.
“Why will Bhagaban Das’s son be spared from rape charges ?”, asked Chowdhury.
Today, locals in Khash Kalyanpur gheraoed local PS demanding arrests of the culprits who raped the minor girl.
“In both cases BJP workers were involved. It shows the pathetic condition of law and order in Tripura under the BJP. Criminals should be arrested as early as possible”, added Chowdhury.
