AGARTALA, Oct 26 (TIWN): Politically targeted 10323 teachers of all sections have been left devastated as the State BJP Govt has taken 180-degree turn from its given promise to the teachers which was made before 2018 Assembly Election. Though 10323 teachers are divided into many groups right now, but the teachers are common sufferers and death toll among the 10323 teachers has raised to 142. A group of 10323 teachers has been continuing the hunger strike for last 7 days but from State Govt side there is no communication. Record shows BJP not only promised to give back 10323 teachers’ jobs if voted to power in 2018 Assembly Poll but it also assured in Vision Document (written form) that once BJP comes to power 10323 teachers’ uncertain future will be ended.

Over 2 years of Joblessness have weakened the 10323 teachers’ movement and also spirit of fighting for rights when death tolls are rising day by day. Today, on 7th Day of Hunger Strike at Rabindra Bhawan premise, an agitating teacher recalling BJP’s pre-poll promises flash-backed incumbent Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s famous dialogue “Ghuma Ghuma Ke Chalana”, when Sarma said “10323 teachers issue will be solved and if not do not vote us in MP election in 2019”.

It was said  that a file was exchanged with the Union Law Dept back in 2017-18 and the file was about to bring an amendment to rescue 10323 teachers’ lives. More options like “cabinet decision” was suggested to solve 10323 teachers’ matter. However, after 4.5 years of the Govt in power, so far no resolution was introduced by the State Govt.

On the 7th day of Hunger Strike, three more teachers had fallen sick.

10323 teachers lost their jobs after High Court and Supreme Court had detected “irregularities” in the recruitment process. Nevertheless, the 10323 teachers are now in view that only a very minimum numbers of teacher jobs had gone who were made parts of the case. Groups of 10323 teachers have taken many attempts to address the issue to the Govt since an RTI reply from Supreme Court said that ‘not all 10323 teachers’ were parties in the case.

Right now, 10323 teachers’ main point of protest is the teachers were never parts of a “clubbed judgement” and hence requested the State Govt to scrutinize the matter taking the Supreme Court’s RTI in reference.
