AGARTALA, January 13 (TIWN): The newly elected Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Birajit Sinha has called upon the party cadres to rededicate themselves to strengthen the party by exposing the misdeeds of the CPIM led state government and roping in all those who left the party on different reasons.
Speaking to the media persons at congress bhavan today the newly elected TPCC president Birajit Sinha said that “we have three years time to fight next assembly election. In the meantime, we have to strengthen the party by bringing more number of people to the party fold. The party must be fortified from booth level. Congress is an ocean and those who left the party are not comfortable in other parties, Birajit Sinha said.
Birajit Sinha further said that the membership drive in the state evoked good response and expressed the hope that the party had bright future. He also urged the party leaders and supporters to increase strength in the hills. We need to regroup and regain the faith of people in the hills, he mentioned. He urged all party supporters to be united and work for the ouster of CPI (M) from the state.
We have no doubt in snatching power from the CPI(M) in the next Assembly elections in this state," he said. The uninterrupted 22 year stint in power seems to have taken a toll on the financial transparency of the Left Front administration in Tripura. Corruption in implementation of rural development schemes continues unabated. There is a state government of Tripura eats up all the money which comes from the central government for development, he alleged.
It is to be mentioned here that earlier, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) announced MLA Birajit Sinha as a new Tripura Pradesh Congress (TPCC) Chief replacing Dibachandra Hrangkhwal. Pradyot Kishore Debbarman has been appointed as working president along with Asish Saha who has been allowed to retain his post.
