KUMARGHAT, Oct 24 (TIWN): Unakoti Dist gang-rape incident turned sensitive with BJP Minister Bhagaban Das’s son Chandradhan Das’s son’s name added in the complaint by opposition parties and local people. However, as per a report at least 3 persons were arrested in this connection whereas many are absconding. The girl was allegedly called to a 3 storey building by a woman and then she was gang-raped by many. Her condition remains critical but the arrested persons names could not be gathered yet by media.
The woman was also arrested by Police. From Tripura BJP there is no official statement yet in this case.
Congress has demanded sacking of Minister Bhagaban Das from the cabinet for the sake of proper investigation. Unfortunately, as expected, the Minister’s son’s name has been removed or has not been added to the complaint.
Congress leader Asish Saha in the press conference said that the matter is a big issue now and from media to political parties, all are concerned over the alleged incident. Asish Saha asked, “Why can’t police take action against the accused just like they do in other cases ? Just because the accused is backed by a Minister, that’s why police will be biased ? Why the BJP leadership is silent over the matter”.
CPI-M State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury called for a fair investigation and CM’s statement regarding the matter.
Back in 2020, a girl was allegedly raped and burnt alive in Mohanpur but due to BJP Minister Ratan Lal Nath’s interference no justice was given to the family and no chargesheet was filed against the BJP criminals. Then in another case, BJP Minister Ram Prasad Pal’s workers were involved in a gang-rape which was also supressed with heavy political threats and influences by Ram Prasad Pal and BJP MP Pratima Bhowmik. Tripura BJP has topped in keeping molestation accused persons in the front row like Sunit Sarkar, Subratra Chakraborty who molested girl students when they were on-duty as teachers in different schools.
