AGARTALA, Oct 16 (TIWN): Reportedly, on Friday night, a 26-year-old man named Tapas Roy was severely beaten up by local residents in Chhelagang Subhash Colony area under Amarpur PS. The youth was seriously injured, later, the family members of the injured youth rescued him and took him to the local hospital. But as his condition was critical he was referred to GB Hospital for better treatment.
The young boy died in GB Hospital on Saturday night while undergoing treatment at GB Hospital. On Sunday his dead body was handed over to the family after post mortem at GB Hospital. The mother of the deceased youth said that she will file a police case against several people in the area regarding the death of her son.
It is known that the local residents demanded a large amount for Durga Puja donation from the young man named Tapas Roy. But the young man named Tapas Roy refused to pay that subscription. Later on Friday, the local residents unitedly entered the youth Taposh Roy's house and vandalized his house and beat up Taposh Roy and his mother.
It is known the deceased youth was an active worker of DYFI.
