AGARTALA, Oct 5 (TIWN): Bijoya Dashami, which is the last day of Durga puja was celebrated with full enthusiasm on Wednesday. From the morning, rushes of consumers were seen in sweet shops, meat shops and also fish shops as this is the day of celebration. Businessmen made good sales of commodities centering the festival. Hilsa fish’s demands were very high this time. Bijoya Dashami has been celebrated across Tripura among the Bengali community. This is the day which marks the ending of Durga puja for a year and Goddess Durga goes back to her husband’s home. From the morning, rushes of buyers were witnessed in sweet shops, markets to purchase food items. Many Bengali families follow a vegetable diet on Saptami, Ashtami and Navami days and breaking the ritual on Dashami non-veg items are cooked.
Sweets are exchanged among the relatives, friends. Bijoya Dashami marks a get together of families, relatives.
Women observe “Sindoor Khela” whereas Dashami Jatra is something where children touches their books on Goddess’s feet and elders also touches the feet of Goddess Durga.
