AGARTALA, Oct 2 (TIWN): “Achhe Din” of BJP has rattled the Durga puja season in Tripura for vehicle drivers as on Sapatmi morning the drivers were shocked to find that CNG price has increased Rs. 10.
Auto drivers at GB to Nandan Nagar blocked road in protest. Talking to media, one of the agitating auto drivers said, “Recently the Govt had increased Rs. 5 in CNG. We were demanding to decrease the amount but today unbelievably, we found out that CNG price had shot up with a raise of Rs. 10. What to do ? Everyone is celebrating this Durga puja but for us this was unexpected. We are shocked, We are helpless”.
“We demand the Govt to withdraw the decision immediately. We are unable to purchase dresses in Durga puja and mid this, such a shocking new have devastated us. Last year in Covid we were assured that we will be given Rs. 1000 but nothing was given”, said the driver.
Local BJP MLA Ratan Chakraborty’s car was coming on that route but seeing the protest his car had escaped.
“Recently, in the name of meter-auto, we were looted with extra money. We request the Govt to think about us, otherwise this blockade will not be withdrawn”, said the driver.
Similar protests were staged in various parts of the state.
