Agartala, January 12 (TIWN): The next hearing on the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) lodged by both the main opposition party of the State, Congress and Trinamool Congress is scheduled to February 9. A division bench of the High Court headed by Chief Justice Deepak Gupta had fixed the next date of hearing. The reason forecasted behind this is that Congress and Trinamool appealed for two weeks more to laid down their comments on the reply given by the Government on the delay to File FIR in the multicrore Bishalgarh scam.

Earlier, State government has been asked to submit affidavit for delay of lodging FIR against the involved corrupted officials even after proposal given by the minister of concerned department. The Government had submitted the reply that due to some investigation process, the BDO had failed to lodge the FIR on time. The High Court had also instructed the petitioners to laid down their comments.

In the meantime, division bench also directed the Investigating officer of Police to submit the detail investigation report on or before of the next hearing of the case including latest development. According to the instruction, the Investigating officer had submitted the case diary. With that recently police had submitted partial chargesheet containing 1350 pages against eleven accused connected with the scam. Initially police had mentioned the scam of 1crore 4 lakhs.

It is to be mentioned here that t, after exactly a month and three days since incumbent BDO Subrata Das lodged FIR against BDO Bimal Chakraborty and 11 others in Bishalgarh P S alleging misappropriation of MGNREGA fund o f Rs  17 crore, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar's specially favored aide 'Bimal' ultimately surrendered before court of the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Purander Prasad Pal. Interestingly only on 27th October two separate PIL were submitted in the High Court by Congress and Trinamool demanding CBI investigation .

Even after passing couple of months that the Bishalgarh RD Block MRNREGA scam had been exposed, police failed to arrest all the accused persons against whom the FIR has been lodged with the Bishalgarh Police Station. At first the police was under the immense pressure from the opposition party of the state and media, began their go slow race and framed dramas in the name of investigation, also scamster Bimal Chakraborty, who is also a brother of DYFI state Secretary Amal Chakraborty surrendered himself with the court during the eve of Diwali. Later the police taking Bimal into their custody made a dramatic raid into his house but as expectedly police could not find any document.

Sources claimed that, during the time of the raid some documents related to the multicrore scam of MGNREGA of Bishalgarh RD Block was seized by police but due to high level political influence the police were trying to hide all theevidences. It is also mentionable here that the scamster Bimal Chakraborty might have a found his home behind the bar of police. However, but the police has shown no major performance in arresting the other 3 accused persons so far.

Whereas, on the other Chief Minister Manik Sarkar earlier said that the state government has taken every legal steps against the accused involved in corruption. But to comment here, why legal steps are taking a longer period to arrest all the accused persons?

Did corrupt officers absconded or taking comfort after looting the central’s fund?

As per the legal procedures, the police supposed to arrest all the accused persons involved in MGNREGA scam under Bishalgarh RD Block, after the FIR has been lodged against them. But the police making it no important seem to have washed their hand.
