AGARTALA, Oct 1 (TIWN): Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Saturday while addressing media in a blood donation camp program lamented over the poor economic situation in the state. Manik Sarkar said, except Govt employees and a section of rich community nobody has enough money to celebrate this Durga puja. “Businessmen are facing losses. They are seated in shops but no customer is available. On the other side, poor people have no work, MGNREGA works are at heavy shortage and the work which were done of very limited numbers and that amount of wage was also not paid to the workers”, said Sarkar.
“Country’s economic condition is very bad. Amid all these, however, I appreciate the youths for organizing blood donation camps on Shashthi puja. There can not be better things to do thank blood donation to mark the Durga puja”, said Manik Sarkar.
