SANTIR BAZAR, Sep 19 (TIWN): Teachers’ crisis continues to hit various schools in Tripura resulting protests by students. Students on Monday blocked National Highway in Santir Bazar in protest against Teachers’ crisis issue and a teacher’s transfer. Students demanded immediate withdrawal of the transfer order and more numbers of teachers in the school. Amid over 3,600 TE qualifiers are jobless in Tripura, Education dept is not recruiting sufficient numbers of teachers, alleging that Finance Dept is not permitting the recruitment. Reportedly, Sagar Dutta, a teacher of East Charakbai Formal High School of Kalsirmukh ADC Village under Santir Bazar sub-division, has been transferred. After hearing this new, the students of the school blocked the national highway. Police of Baikhora police station and school inspector of Jolaibari Bikash Debnath arrived at the spot. Later, the school inspector promised to keep the teacher Sagar Dutta in the school for some more time. After getting this promise, the students withdrew the blockade.

Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath assured all TET qualifiers that they will be recruited before Durga puja whereas there is no sign of it and then when Ratan Lal Nath was asked about his promise, he said, if Finance Dept permits then he will recruit all TET qualifiers together but the Finance Minister told media that it is not true that Finance Dept controls the recruitment and Education Dept’s recruitment is controlled by the Education Dept only. Today morning TET qualifiers in protest gheraoed Deputy CM cum Finance Minister Jishnu Debbarman in his official residence as it has been a year that the youths had qualified in TET but the Depts are busy in dialogues and creating confusion instead of recruitment.
