Resentment over Congress-CPI(M) closed door deal; 7 MLAs wrote to PM Modi on corruption issues demanding CBI probe; A group of MLAs to take decision on joining BJP soon
Amitabha Sengupta

NEW DELHI/ AGARTALA, January 11 (TIWN): Due to the behind curtains deal between Rahul Gandhi and CPI(M) Politburo memeber Sitaram Yechury, Congress party in Tripura seems to have started losing momentum in the state inspite of two crucial changes made this week. Early on Thursday AICC appointed MLA Birjit Sinha as the TPCC President and Pradyut Kishore Debbarman as the TPCC Executive President along with MLA Ashis Kumar Saha(existing one). But AICC's negative and CPI(M) friendly attitude towards Tripura at last seems to make its significant impact very soon. According to TIWN source ," Within the month of February BJP will be in a position to officially assume as the main opposition party in Tripura. And very soon nearly 7 MLAs will join the party to contribute their role in removing the CPI(M) led LF Govt from the state. As part of Amit Shah's Mission 2018 in Tripura a RSS whole timer from Tripura ( now in RSS HQ) Biplab Deb is going to be sent to Tripura as the state BJP President. And even the rebel 7 MLAs too are informed that they are to act as per the BJP's formula .

This time corruption has been the major issue.

Since May 2014 Tripura has earned a good name across the country , thanks to the massive scams in various centrally sponsored funds like MGNREGA, RMSA and NRHM. But all on a sudden just when the anti-CPI(M) movement started to take momentum in Tripura, Congress High Command , especially Rahul Gandhi, is learnt to have instructed PCC leaders on Tripura to stop movement against Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and LF Govt in the state."

This has been the age old strategy between the AICC and CPI(M) in Tripura. Inspite of a significant wave in favour of Congress-TMC alliance in Tripura in 2003, AICC being requested by CPI(M) Central leadership did not give the clearance for Congress-TMC alliance in the state simply because of two seats. At that TMC demanded four seats from Tripura but AICC was firm in its decision ," Only two seats can be given to TMC." Being humiliated at this TMC Supremoo, then the NDA allied party at the Centre came to Tripura and invited the then Defence Minister George Fernandez to Tripura. " It is learnt that in that very meeting,  the graveyard for the Congress was dug as TMC supremo was learnt to have requested George Fernandez to instruct the Central forces to work in favour of CPI(M) purely with an intention to teach ' a good lesson to Sonia Gandhi and Congress High Command.' Accordingly, George Fernandez asked all the central forces to retain ' peace and stability in Tripura(??)". During that election Congress succeeded to win 19 seats but lost 19 more constituencies with a margin 1 vote to 1000 votes.

Same situation again prevailing in the state with AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi asking PCC leadership to stop movement against CPl(M) led Manik Sarkar's govt. Recently CPI(M) MP Sitaram Yechury and AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi is learnt to have a two hours long meeting in Delhi. And in that meeting the game plan was finalized in favour of the current LF Govt. But that news , when reached Tripura, simply rocked the state including the largest portion of PCC. Accordingly, with a specific intention of defeating the LF Govt, 7 MLAs are now discussing with the BJP and RSS leadership to finalize formula.

A highly placed source in the BJP HQ, Delhi told TIWN," 7 MLAs already wrote to PM Modi giving the details of the centrally sponsored funds. And reacting to it PM Modi too asked all to come forward in nation building. In that letter 7 members MLAs also made an appeal to PM Modi for an appointment in the 7 RCR. BUT PM Modi, as usual, sent the matter to President Amit Shah to take final decision. As per the RSS sources expressed their main agenda is to remove the CPI(M) from power. "  According to the rebel group of TPCC, the Congress and CPI(M) high commands are now taking their agendas in common - to help this corrupt Govt to remain in power in Tripura."

But now-a-days BJP has started to form an organizational set up and it will continue over a long period of time with a target of Mission 2018. And being furious with AICC especially against Rahul Gandhi's attitude, 7 MLAs sent their representatives to the 7RCR with a letter informing the PM about the ongoing scams in Tripura. TIWN source in the PMO said over phone ," Prime Minister has assured the PCC representative that the govt is looking in to the matter seriously especially on the massive scams in various Centrally sponsored funds. But the PCC delegates' request for an appointment with the PM Modi is not yet communicated. Actually since Amit Shah became BJP President, Modiji is not taking any decision on political issues as Amit Shah is doing everything efficiently. Even the BJP President has been able to convince the RSS that the party won't act creating any difference with the RSS."

A BJP source fron Delhi HQ  also informed ," MLAs are now discussing about their strategies before taking the final decision. " A highly placed source in the TPCC told this correspondent ," It is now clear that AICC won't like to bring the Congress back to power and in that circumstances , it is only ' Crying from the top of a hill' for us to keep our movement against the corrupt CPI(M) Govt in Tripura. Within February you will see that BJP has assumed the status of the main opposition in the state and with the assurance given by the RSS wings, it not far away when CPI(M) will find its place in the pages of history in Tripura."
