AGARTALA, Aug 30 (TIWN): Locals caught a young man red-handed while consuming drugs. The incident took place in Rajnagar Jawahar Colony area under Teliamura police station on Monday night.

It is known that for a long time some youths have been consuming drugs in Rajnagar Jawahar Colony area under Teliamura PS. On Monday night the people of the area arrested a young man while taking drugs and later handed over to the Police after beaten up.

The detained young man was identified as Vijay Nath Sharma. Drug paraphernalia including empty drug containers were recovered from the youth. Several other drug users of the area fled from the area after seeing the arrival of the locals, reportedly.

Residents complain that a thriving trade of narcotic drugs have been going on in that area for a long time. But due to lack of awareness in the area the youth is drowning day by day.

Local residents demand that the administration also take necessary steps to create a drug-free society.
