AGARTALA, Aug 29 (TIWN): CITU with huge rally placed deputation to the Labour Department raising 11 points demand for the benefits of Labourers. The demands were raised- Wages should be increased according to the price index in all labor sectors of the state. V-D-A should be paid every 6 months. Puja Bonus / Ex Gratia should be paid to the workers one month before the upcoming Durga Festival. Demands raised, all clauses and rules against the interests of the laborers in the labor code should be abolished. The minimum wages of workers shall be Rs.21, 000. Declared wages for tea workers should be made effective immediately and arrears of increased wages should be paid.
Demands raised, 200 days of work and 340 rupees wages should be paid in a year in MNREGA. Increase in price of petrol, diesel, CNG gas and daily necessities should be prevented. Retrenchment of retrenched workers and closure of State Government-owned enterprises shall not be allowed. Financial allocation should be increased to keep all those organizations running. All seized offices, including the CITU should be returned.
Demands also raised, at least Rs 3 lakh, to be provided to all homeless workers. Repression and terror on all sections of the people including the working class should be stopped.
In the rally Manik Dey stated that their protest for the benefits of Labourers will be continued.
