Agartala, January 10 (TIWN): While the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT), Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) and other political parties are gearing up to hit the best in forthcoming Tripura Tribal Autonomous Areas District Council (TTAADC) election, few of the members of banned outfits- NLFT and ATTF are reportedly roaming with fire arms in some bordering areas along Indo-Bangla international border.

According to a highly placed source, villagers of Raishyabari, Gandacherra bordering areas in Dhalai district, Karbook in Gomati district, Kanchanpur, Bhangmoon, Anandabazar and Gachiram areas have received large-amount contribution collection receipt from the militants. Following the issue, the villagers are passing days with a fear that any time the militants can stage massive attack in those villages ahead of TTAADC election.

Keeping TTAADC election in view, while INPT is carrying out different efforts to pass the Empowerment to TTAADC Bill, direct funding to TTAADC and Kokborok language of 8 schedules of Constituency, at the same time IPFT is demanding afresh delimitation of District Council Constituencies and Full-proof security in order to stop avoidable extraneous influences, poll counting of votes of all 28 Constituencies.

Recently, while general secretary of INPT- Jagadish Debbarma had said that INPT does not support the demand of separate Twipra land demand of IPTF and the INPT would contest the forthcoming ADC election independently, the IPFT had claimed that it would win the election independently.

According to party source, the candidate selection process of INPT is going on in full swing right from the primary committees to divisional committees. Based on the proposals of divisional committees, INPT central committee would prepare the final candidate’s list very soon, he added.

The source further added that INPT has acceptability among the tribals because since its inception, the party has been fighting for establishment of rights and talks about the sufferings of the tribal communities including creation of Inner Line Permit.

It is to be mentioned here, the three-decade old alliance of Congress and Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) came to an end on July 31, last year following the poor show in the three-tier Panchayat election in the state.

Referring security arrangements, there should be full security deployed in the entire scheduled areas with the state police, TSR and Central Paramilitary forces, said a party source of IPFT. The polling booths especially earmarked as super sensitive and sensitive localities should be guarded, manned exclusively by the Central Para Military Forces, said source.
