KAILASHAHAR, July 9 (TIWN): Claiming no opposition member was ever attacked by BJP in Kailashahar and alleging Congress goons have attacked BJP members in the last two days, BJP blocked the road in protest seeking arrests of the Congress activists.
On Tuesday afternoon, BJP party activist Hatim Ali was allegedly severely beaten up by Congress party workers in Yuvraj Nagar village of Kailashahar.
In protest against this and demanding the immediate arrest of the Congress workers who attacked the BJP workers, BJP activists today protested by blocking the road in front of the Kailasahar police station on Tuesday afternoon.
During the road blockade, Yuva Morcha Unkoti district committee president Arup Dhar said that on Monday August 8, the Congress called a bandh, vandalized the BJP party office in Yuvraj Nagar village of Kailashahar, entered the houses of BJP party workers and severely beat women and youths. Later, these attacked Congress workers surrendered to the court and were released on bail.
Then on August 9, on Tuesday afternoon, Hatim Ali, an active worker of the BJP party in Yuvraj Nagar area, was left on the road after being severely beaten by the Congress workers while going from his home to the Baburbazar area. On hearing this news, the Youth Morcha workers rescued Hatim Ali and first brought him to Kailasahar Police Station, then took him to Unkoti District Hospital for treatment. At present, Hatim Ali is undergoing treatment at Unkoti District Hospital.
A written complaint was filed with the police station on behalf of Yuva Morcha with the names of the victims. After this, the Youth Morcha Unkoti District Committee President Arup Dhar led a demonstration in front of the Kailasahar Police Station by blocking the road from 4 pm and demanding the arrest of the Congress workers who attacked them within the next 24 hours.
After a two-hour long road blockade, they withdrew the blockade after receiving assurances from the police administration that the culprits would be arrested.
