AGARTALA, Aug 4 (TIWN): Reportedly, construction of a channel through the REGA project has been going on in the area adjacent to Jayanagar Bazar under Bharat Chandra Nagar village Panchayat in Belonia subdivision. On Wednesday it was the last day of work and according to the rules GRS employee Ratan Namah rushed to the spot for sending Live pictures of 2PM through the apps of the Department of Rural Development.

But on the spot some miscreants rushed to the spot and started abusing the GRS employee verbally and started attacking him with stick. Miscreants allegedly took off his glasses and broke them and then snatched his mobile phone and threw it on the road and broke it.

On spot the REGA workers saved Ratan Namah, later, the miscreants left the scene when the local people came running after witnessing the incident.

GRS employee Ratan Namah was brought to Belonia Hospital for treatment, and then the matter was informed to Bharat Chandra Nagar Panchayat Pradhan and Deputy Pradhan, Bharat Chandra Nagar Panchayat Samiti Chairperson and BDO Kaveri Nath of the block.

After the investigation, Kaveri Nath, block officer of Bharatchandra Nagar block filed a case against Surajit Dey, Prashant Dey and Sukumar Dey in written at Belonia PS

Now it remains to be seen what role the police administration takes against them and whether they are able to arrest these miscreants for obstructing government work and physically assaulting government employees.
