JOLAIBARI, July 28 (TIWN): Everyday there is now Teachers’ Day in Tripura as senior classes’ students are taking junior classes because the schools are reeling under heavy crisis. TIWN team had made a visit to Jolaibari West Pilak Class-12 school’s primary section where students were spotted taking classes of the junior classes. On being asked by media, a class-5 student Ayan Datta, he said, “I have taken classes of Math and English in class-1 and class-2. I taught them multiplication table and A, B, C, D, alphabets”. Another student of class-5 Manojit Debnath said, “I took class in Class-3 and Class-4. I taught them poem, spelling etc. Many of my friends are doing the same”.

A teacher told media, “Everyone at the upper layer knows about teachers’ crisis problems of the school. It is true that we send students to junior classes but there is no option because children make lots of disturbances and engage in clash. To monitor the situation, we send them”.

“There are only two teachers in a school. If any day, one of us take leave, then only one teacher has to maintain all classes, which is impossible. As a result, we take Class-5 students’ helps. At least if we had got 5 teachers still it was manageable but right now only two teachers in our school”, said a teacher.

Earlier, the school had 6 teachers but after 10323 teachers’ termination, the school has only 1 teacher.

Tripura has over 3,500 unemployed TET qualified candidates, but the Govt has no urgency to recruit them.
