KAILSHAHAR / AGARTALA, July 20 (TIWN): Public on Tuesday had blocked Kailshahar-Singerbil National Highway for hours in protest against pathetic road conditions. The protest was not an isolated one as in last 1 week, heavy protest rows emerged in various places in the state of Tripura due to PWD Dept’s failure to maintain the roads which are allegedly running out of artificial fund crisis amid in 2018, July month after BJP won Tripura Assembly Election, new Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath announced to increase VAT and impose cess claiming that it will be used for regular road maintenance which to help in the vehicle’s durability, but there is no sign of outcome of the Minister’s claim and how far tax collection was increased in the sector and how much was utilized, it is a matter of clarification which yet to be declared from the Govt side.
Agitating public at Kailashahar-Singerbil road said, “Road repairing is our long awaiting demand where Govt is not focussing. We face troubles while going to market, office and hospitals. We have appealed to many leaders to repair it but nobody could solve the matter. So, we are bound to protest to get the road repaired”.
