AGARTALA, July 18 (TIWN): Almost, 70-year-old Belonia Girls School currently stands in a dilapidated state, surrounded by jungles and became home of venomous snakes. Talking with the Assistant Head Teacher it is known the School is not even in a state of repair as the school totally collapsed.
The School has been in a dilapidated state for a long time but in leftist era and even in Hira Era no initiative Govt taken to build a new building. It is repeatedly informed to the higher authorities to take initiative to build a new School building but has not yet happened. Meanwhile, more than three hundred students continue to study with high risks. Reportedly, the National Highway Authority has given money for the construction of a new boundary wall due to the breaking of the boundary wall, but the work is not being done.
School girls said that they are afraid to go to class as any time the room may collapse on them, they are also afraid to move around the school as venomous snakes’ moves around the school.
Huge angst has generated among school students, parents and well-intentioned educated citizens in Bilonia city centering the dilapted condition of School. Now it has to be seen what role the present government, local legislators and local leaders will take in this regard keeping in mind the safety of female students.
