BISHALGARH, July 9 (TIWN): Centring a child marriage, miscreants attacked a journalist named Samarjit Chowdhury in Tripura’s Golaghati area under Kanchanmala, Bishalgarh subdivision.
According to Samarjit Chowdhury’s statement, yesterday he went to attend a marriage in his locality and he had no idea that the bride is a teenager. As soon as he reached there, he saw that police and the childline team arrived and stopped the marriage.
After the police went, some locals threatened Samarjit to fix the matter. Samarjit told the people that he had no idea who informed the police and he also never knew that the bride is below 18.
In the morning some miscreants led by one local Jayanta Sarkar came to his home and in his absence attacked his mother and also assaulted his wife. The miscreants also looted expensive ornaments, Rs. 10,000 from his house.
An FIR was lodged in the local police station.
