AGARTALA, July 9 (TIWN): When three Trinamool Congress members have been shot dead in Kolkata, BJP and its wings along with a major portion of national mainstream media still roaring over Trinamool MP Mohua Moitra’s comment on Goddess Kali's taste which was purely based on her cultural perspective as in West Bengal Tarapith like Kali temples non-vegs are offered to Goddess Kali and in many Kali temples animal sacrifices are still going on. An FIR was lodged against Mohua Moitra by Antar-Rashtriya Hindu Sena (International Hindu Sena) in Kadamtala PS over her remark. The members of the Hindu Sena stated if Mohua Moitra is not arrested then nationwide protests will be lodged. The senior Trinamool Congress leader Mohua Moitra stirred controversy on Tuesday at a conclave organized by a media house by saying that she has every right as an individual to imagine the deity as a "meat-eating and alcohol-accepting goddess, as every person has his or her unique way of offering prayers", when asked about the row over a film poster of Kali holding a cigarette.
Later when asked, she was strict to her remark and slammed BJP saying, "Has BJP given the custody of Hinduism ? I think I acted as a mature politician. For long, we had avoided the issue of BJP imposing its own version of Hinduism, which is based on established norms of North India. The party should desist from imposing it on people of other parts of the country such as West Bengal where Hindus follow their well-established rituals for centuries. Who is the BJP to teach us how to conduct puja of Goddess Kali in a particular way? Neither Lord Ram nor Lord Hanuman solely belongs to the BJP. Has the party taken the lease of Hindu dharma?"
