AGARTALA, July 7 (TIWN): Public out of angst over 4 long days power cuts gheraoed Electricity office on Tuesday night, the incident took place at Kumarghat sub-divisional power corporation Office.
Reportedly, the people of Sukanta Nagar Eklavya Para of Kumarghat are reeling under extreme trouble due to 4 long days Power cuts in the area which were caused after Transformer started non-functioning. The local people several times called the Kumarghat Sub-Divisional office but reportedly no officials had received the Phone call and came to set up the issue.
Seeing no option, the local people gheraoed the Kumarghat Sub-Divisional electricity office on Tuesday night in the scorching heat. The aggrieved people expressed their displeasure over the role of the corporation, their demand is the resumption of electricity service.
The police of Kumarghat PS had to rush to the Kumarghat Electricity office premises to control the situation on Tuesday night. After the assurance of the authorities the situation calmed down with the intervention of the police.
Note that consumers are constantly being harassed due to power shortage in the entire state. People are suffering day after day due to the structural defects of the corporation. Even after that, it is alleged that the corporation has not taken any steps in the field of infrastructure development. The people of the state are furious at the state of electricity service.
