AGARTALA, July 3 (TIWN): On the same day, police of Teliamura, Mungiakami and Hawaibari PS recovered dried cannabis. The Police of two police stations detained three persons along with 1451 kg of dried cannabis from two vehicles at two different points. The value of the recovered cannabis is estimated at Rs 2.17 crore.
Briefing about cannabis recovery on Sunday morning, Khowai PS SP Banu Pada Chakraborty said the container vehicle -WB15 B 2809 was on the way to Guwahati from Agartala, after reaching at Hawai Bari Checking Point under Teliamura PS was seized with Cannabis. On the basis of secret information, the police personnel of Teliamura Traffic Unit seized Cannabis after conducting a search. During the search, the police recovered 476 kg from the vehicle and arrested the two. The detainees were identified as Lal Mohan Ray and Pankaj Ray, both residents of Bihar. Hearing this news, Traffic DSP Vikram Jit Shukra Das rushed to Hawaibari area.
On the other hand, on the same day the police of Mungiakami PS searched an oil tanker number TRO1 AJ 1664 and recovered 975 kg and arrested the driver named Kartik Jamatia of Amarpur. Meanwhile, Sonacharan Jamatia, a police officer of Teliamura sub-division, rushed to the spot after getting the news.
Khowai district police superintendent Bhanupada Chakraborty said the NDPS had filed a case against the three and investigation is still going on.
