AGARTALA, January 6 (TIWN): Parliamentary standing committee on commerce comprising of at least 13 MPs from the centre made a visit to Tripura with their long day analysis of Tripura Rubber and Bamboo industry. Later the committee comprising of all the MPs held a discussions with the representatives of growers, workers and entrepreneurs. The panel discussion was held at Agartala Pragna Bhawan at evening. Parliamentary Standing Committee of Commerce Chairman and BJP Rajya Sabha MP Chandan Mitra talking to the reporters here at Pragna Bhawan after the discussion said that the state Tripura has an ample of opportunities to boost up its industry. “I am highly impressed with the development of the industry here in Tripura with its rubber and bamboo cultivationâ€, said Mitra.Mr. Mitra said that their goal to visit the state was to study the rubber industry that would help them to know the economy of India.Adding to that he said that the private industry should come forward to boost the Tripura economy where the state govt. also should provide opportunities to the companies.
Asked about the central’s fund in order to boost up the industry here in Tripura.
Mr. Mitra said that Central govt. has released more than enough fund to every north eastern States, but it seems to be insufficient for them.
Therefore central govt. has already staged the platform and now it is a time of the state govt. that should come forward to boost its economy.
He said a separate fund of 10% has been kept separate for the development of the North-eastern states.
The standing committee will thereafter submit its report to the central government on the state of rubber and tyre industry with recommendations of means to boost production. It is also expected to recommend on the growth of the market.
However the 13 members of MPs comprised of Parliamentary standing committee of commerce chairman and BJP Rajya Sabha MP Chandan Mitra, Tripura MP Jitendra Chowdhury, Joy Abraham, Shantaram naik, DS Rathod, Narendra Keshab, Sudhir Gupta, Ram Charitra, Jesusdaese Seelam, Sultan Ahmed, Vayalav Ravi, Janak Ram and Chiranjit Singh.
Earlier the Parliamentary standing committee of commerce visited Dunlop India in West Bengal on Jan 5 and later came to Tripura today and thereafter the committee will make a visit to Kerela.
