Right now, Belonia’s MLA is Arun Chandra Bhowmik who was very closed to sacked CM Biplab Deb. Arun Chandra Bhowmik accused two Mandal leaders of threatening and lodged a case in Belonia PS.Arun Bhowmik also wrote a letter to the current CM Manik Saha.

However, out of political pressure, he had withdrawn the case.

On the other side, there are major allegations against MLA Arun Bhowmik’s close coterie for misusing power, and extorting the public.  Then Arun Bhowmik’s right hand Gautam Sarkar was made Mandal President who reportedly made huge money. Soon, Gautam Sarkar was removed and new President is Gautam Datta Gupta.

Now two groups of BJP are playing various intrigues against each other to secure MLA candidature. BJP’s public acceptance has heavily downed in the area already.
