AGARTALA, May 29 (TIWN): Tripura Congress on Sunday has kicked off by-poll campaigning by launching a rally at Town Bordowali constituency led by Congress State President Birjit Sinha and poll candidate Asish Saha. Tripura by-poll is scheduled to be held on June 23 in four constituencies --- 1) Agartala-6, 2) Town Bordowali, 3) Jubarajnagar, 4) Simna. Interacting with media, Party State President Birjit Sinha said, “As the notification to be published tomorrow, Congress has launched the campaigning from today itself and the campaigning program has now inaugurated at Asish Saha’s constituency where he has been a long time winner candidate”.

Asish Saha is a former MLA who has been consistently winning from this Bordowali constituency. Saha joined BJP in 2017 ahead of Tripura Assembly Poll 2018 and won again. He recently resigned from the BJP party and MLA post and joined Congress. Now, Congress has nominated Asish Saha for the same constituency Town Bordowali which has been vacated since he resigned from the post.

Asish Saha told media, “It is the time for public to wake up. We will go door to door and seek votes. Even though I was in the ruling party but could not do anything for the people because the BJP Govt is anti-people and cheater. No promise could be fulfilled by BJP which it gave to people before 2018 poll. Now, it’s time to tell BJP that Tripura is not a place for cheaters and 420 people”.
