AGARTALA / KHUMULWNG, May 28 (TIWN): An illegal raid was allegedly held in Tripura ADC headquarter that is Khumulwng Press Club Secretary, an Editor of a Kokborok TV channel Ranjit Debbarma’s home on Friday night allegedly without any search warrant or permission from the higher authority. The police officials reportedly went many times to the Editor’s home and harassed the households. On Saturday state’s senior journalists, Editors visited Jirania PS and met West Dist SP Bogati Jagadeeswar Reddy. The media persons’ body demanded a probe in the incident and sought strict action against the police personnel involved in that illegal raid.
Agartala Press Club Secretary Pranab Sarkar said, a forensic dept official Manika Debbbarma who had no authority in the raid participated in the illegal raid and harassed the Editor Ranjit Debbarma and his family.
The SP reportedly assured the journalists team that he will look into the matter as the incident looks very serious.
Vanguard TV Channel Editor Sebak Bhattacharjee said, such incidents are intolerable and if justice is not received, they would go for protests.
