AGARTALA, May 25 (TIWN): Much hyped ‘Nesha Mukt Tripura’ remains only in the slogan, but the reality is Tripura became the center Point of ‘Drug trade’ and the border areas have become the ‘Hub’ for smuggling. Govt hospitals, alleys, even School/college hostels and abandoned buildings in various subdivisions have become the center Point for to consumption of drugs. The addiction to drugs and their demand has increased rapidly among youth and as a result almost every day the cases of ‘HIV Positive’ are growing in the state.
Again Amtali PS Police based on secret information detained a driver including vehicle while smuggling 6 packets Brown sugar in his vehicle. The brown sugar was kept hidden inside gearbox, and the worth of seized Brown sugar is around approx 5 lakhs.
The arrested youth is identified as Om Prakash Shau, residing adjacent to Barajala Mahan Club area. However, Amtali PS Police said interrogation Process is going on to find out the main culprit behind the racket and he will be produced before court on Wednesday.
It is noted that if drug smuggling could not be reduced then the future generation will destroy under the addiction of drugs.
