People’s ‘Democratic Right to protest’ Snatched in Tripura: 10,323 Teachers’ Peaceful Protest ended with Police Lathi Charge injuring many Terminated Teachers : Over 300 Teachers Detained

AGARTALA, March 14 (TIWN): The 10,323 teachers who were moving towards ‘Mahakaran’ (Secretariat) to meet Tripura CM were arrested by State Police. They were not only detained but also Lathi Charge was done on them. Though under “Lathi Charge” on teachers is not new, and earlier too Police brutally attacked them during their ‘Protest in front of City Center’ Agartala on 27th January, 2021. While Police detained the terminated teachers in front of Secretariat a victim terminated teacher pointing Police said, “If you can bring order for lathi-charge then bring order for shot dead, kill us and give us peace”. During their procession to Secretariat, the 10323 teachers were obstructed by police. After that a tussle had developed between teachers and police and then police allegedly imposed lathi-charge where at least 3 teachers were injured.

However, the Police detained over 300 teachers in front of Secretariat and were taken to AD Nagar Police ground. Despite injuring many teachers the CM has not even given a single ‘Statement’ for 10,323 teachers.
