AGARTALA, March 10 (TIWN): An glorious win for Aam Admi Party in Punjab Poll once again approved 'Kaam Ki Rajneeti' of Arvind Kejriwal. Now, as Congress has lost its grips from Assembly seats across almost the country, now, AAP has challenged itself to be the major opponent of BJP in the upcoming Gujarat poll. "Since decades, the BJP and Congress have been the dominating political forces in Gujarat, but some political observers say like in Delhi, the AAP now has a good chance to take on the BJP", said an AAP leader.

“These are not the trends of the victory of any party, these are trends of the acceptance of the governance model of the Arvind Kejriwal-led government in Delhi,” AAP MLA Dilip Pandey told IANS.  He said that the consecutive governments in Punjab, during the past 50-60 years, have plunged the state into a quagmire.

“It is the result of Delhi’s good governance,” said Rai thanking the people of Punjab for voting for change.  The early leads on Thursday indicated that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is heading to a landslide maiden victory in Punjab, while the traditional parties — Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) — are trailing.  Congress rebel Capt Amarinder Singh, whose fledgling Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) is contesting the polls in alliance with the BJP and SAD (Sanyukt), is trailing from his ‘royal’ bastion Patiala (Urban).  AAP’s chief ministerial face and sitting MP Bhagwant Mann is leading from Dhuri, the seat from where he’s trying luck for the first time.  Apart from Punjab, AAP is contesting the elections in Uttarakhand and Goa, where early trends indicated that the party has failed to woo the voters.

The ruling BJP was leading in 248 seats and Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party (SP) was ahead in 112 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, the Election Commission trends on Thursday showed.  As per the latest vote counting trends, BJP was leading in UP with 246 seats. It was followed by SP (120 seats) and BSP (7 seats). A party or coalition needs to win 202 out of 403 seats to form government in the state. BJP was also leading in Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa, though AAP was leading in Punjab.  At 10:34 am, the BSE Sensex was trading at 56,000, up 1,353 points or 2.48 per cent. Nifty50 was quoting at 16,733, up 387 points or 2.37 per cent.  "The outcome of the Uttar Pradesh election will be widely watched by markets because it will set the tone for how the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party approaches and prepares for the general elections in 2024," said Mohit Nigam, Head - PMS, Hem Securities.
