AGARTALA, March 3 (TIWN): On the occasion Dhananjay Tripura’s martyr day who died in police firing during a communist revolution for local Kokborok language's recognition under Congress era, CPI-M state secretary Jitendra Chwodhury lambasted the regional parties who are talking about ‘thansa’ (unity) among Tiprasas but have zero contribution to include Kokborok language’s in the 6th schedule and language’s promotion. Chowdhury said, today if Kokborok has a place it’s because of the communists’ movement. Talking to media at party headquarter, Chwodhury further accused ATTF, NLFT like banned terror organizations for their alleged attempts to stop the development, education in the hilly areas indicating the same leaders are now talking about 'thansa'.

“It will not be wrong to say that those who are talking about Thansa helped BJP to come in power directly or indirectly, but today what is the condition of the ADC. People are striving to manage their livelihood. In this situation, Dhananjay Tripura’s contribution must be remembered”, alleged Jitendra Chowdhury.

Dhananjoy Tripura : On March 3, 1975, the people marched with the entire state to the Tehsil Kachari of Jolaibari, demanding recognition of the Kokborok language, along with demands as return of illegally transferred lands and formation of ADC. Under the Congress government police fired without where Dhananjay Tripura, a young man, died. Hundreds were injured.
