AGARTALA, Feb 25 (TIWN): In Narendra Modi’s rally on January 4 around State Govt employees and school, college students were asked to participate which was later claimed by BJP as “mass gathering” for BJP’s support in Tripura but in case of CPI-M the situation was different. Massive attacks are state-wide going on against the CPI-M and other opposition party members, vehicles were cancelled from the service and but amid all such odds, thousands of gathering inside and outside the Astabal stadium was witnessed. However, while addressing, Opposition leader Manik Sarkar said, there is nothing to celebrate about rally’s success as the party has to go long ahead by encouraging people to fight back the “goonda-raj” of BJP and to enable everyone to cast votes.

Keeping the 23rd State Conference and Astabal rally ahead, CPI-M conducted a press meet at Melarmath Party Headquarter, Agartala. Addressing media, Party State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury said, “As all of you know that our 23rd State Conference to be started from February 24 for 2 days, we will discuss the overall political situation of the state. We will also pay tribute to the party members whom we have lost recently – Bajuban Reang, Bijan Dhar, and Gautam Das. Ahead of the 23rd State conference we also will organize a mass gathering tomorrow at Astabal stadium. CPI-M National General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, former State Secretary Prakash Karat, Tripura Opposition leader Manik Sarkar will be main figures to address the programme”.

Jitendra Chowdhury also said that in the conference internal things will be discussed and the rally will be open.

Reacting to media queries on BJP’s attack, Jitendra Chowdhury said, “The ruling BJP Party is so afraid that they are continuously organizing attacks on CPI-M members and in various means, they are threatening the party members not to join the rally. Also, people’s financial conditions are not good and it’s tough for many to arrange vehicle fares. But amid all such situations, I want to confirm that the rally will be joined by a large number of the population”.

Jitendra Chowdhury further mentioned so far 17 CPI-M members were murdered under BJP Govt, over 3000 people were attacked physically and many received permanent damages in bodies.

Over 50,000 active CPI-M members are right now in this state, stated Jitendra Chowdhury.
