AGARTALA, Feb 19 (TIWN): Roadways in various parts of Tripura remain in deplorable condition amid much hypes of ‘Double Engine’. National Highways which started from the previous Govt’s time could not be completed yet and the remaining roads remain without maintenance. In 2018 VAT on fuel was increased after an announcement made by Minister Ratan Lal Nath that the collected extra funds to be utilized for regular road maintenance and it will decrease the cost of transportation by saving fuel due to well-maintained roads. So far no data was revealed, on how far the extra VAT funds were utilized.
On Saturday, locals and school children sat in protest in Panisagar protesting against the deplorable road condition. The area is not only remained pathetic but dangerous for transportation.
On the other side, throughout the state, roads remain without maintenance and if maintenance was done, it is of very poor quality.
