AGARTALA, January 2 (TIWN): The Tripura cabinet decision of framing a new employment policy faces a criticism with the opposition Congress saying that there was no need to sit in cabinet and decide for the implementation of 4 years old NCTE guidelines in Tripura. It was absolutely baseless meeting, claimed Opposition Leader Sudip Roy Barman today. He said once an act is legislated in the Parliament, there is no need for Tripura cabinet to hold any business with the act.
Talking to TIWN today Opposition Leader Sudip Roy Barman said that there was no need to sit in cabinet and decide the employment policy under the NCTE guidelines, because once an act is legislated in the parliament, it has to be implemented in every state soon. But avoiding and showing thumb to the act and rules of the country, the Tripura govt. made itself busy recruiting candidates illegally, hence the illegally recruited jobs of at least 10, 323 teachers are uncertain now, said Barman.
“It has been our long term demand with the state govt. to not compromise with quality education, to ensure appropriate teachers should be entrusted with their tasks and to abide by the guidelines of the NCTE” , said Sudip Roy Barman.

He said that inspite of acting on the demands for the sake of the unemployed youths of the state the state govt. has made the water dirty and staged a malicious campaign against the Congress.

Mr. Barman further added that the recent cabinet decision would have also apologize before the common mass of the state for making fool of them and taking the 10, 323 teachers into a wrong path, leading their jobs to be uncertain now.

Recently in its cabinet meeting the Tripura govt. after a long hiatus has given green signal to the National Council of Teachers' Education (NCTE) guidelines for recruitment of primary and upper-primary teacher with the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) made mandatory. The meeting also informed that there shall be a Teacher's Recruitment Board consisting of five members including renowned educationist, former college teacher, principal or university teacher and a nominated member of the state government.

However, it is mentionable here that after the Tripura High Court took a steps against the unfair and illegal recruitment of the teachers here in Tripura, the Tripura govt. challenging the HC’s verdict filed an interlocutory application with the Supreme Court of India. The SC stated that the stay will continue till disposal of the case. The date of hearing is scheduled on January 12 next.
