AGARTALA, Feb 4 (TIWN): At least 16 night guards working in Rukia Power Project as night guards under Northeast Security Guard Company quitted jobs after not getting salaries for 5 months.
They have been working as night guard workers for the last four years. All of them are from the Kalamchoura police station area.
Even after doing so, they are not getting salaries. As a result, they have been struggling to run their family for five months. No assurance is being given to them by the company about when they might get their pending salaries. As a result, all the night guard workers have stopped their duty from Thursday.
At present they had no choice but to go to the police station, because the people under whom they work are not even picking up the phones at present. So, all the night guard workers have lodged a written complaint with the police station.
It is alleged that the local contractor has been swallowing the commission of these 16 night guards for four years. Month-by-month, the contactors are pocketing the extra money of the night guard.
